“On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”” – Mark 2:17 (Matthew 9:12; Luke 5:31)
Jesus says this during a conversation with the Pharisees regarding why he spends time with who he spends time with (tax collectors, anyone?)
Here’s the thing, it’s great to go to church and fellowship with like-minded people, but if those are the only ones we spend time with, what are we doing?
Ministry?
It’s not about the whole, it’s about the broken.
It’s not about the full. It’s about the empty.
That is who we reach out to.
Every day, every week, I am surrounded with empty, broken people. People desperate for something to fill them, to make them whole.
That is what ministry is all about – whether you are at a church or in a store…or even in your own home.
The pharisees thought they had it all together: they knew all the rules, followed religious practice, and separated themselves from the rest of the world.
But, they weren’t inviting.
We are called to be like Christ, we are made whole to reach out to others still in their brokenness.
And, to do that, we cannot remain empty ourselves. We must regularly engage in relationship with Him, allowing God to fill us with His spirit.
So, remember this week, ministry is for the empty, the broken.
And then, think of what you can do to help fill them with the truth & love.

This is so important. I think often people feel they can’t come to Jesus with/ because of their brokenness but that ids exactly why he came. We have to reach out to them and give them hope. Visiting from FMF.
