Libraries…Bookstores…
“A room without books is like a body without a soul” – Cicero
Since a young age, I have been drawn to the written word.
My mom has read to me since, I’m guessing, before I was even born. She taught me to read, and when I was little, we read together so often.
Except for a short time in elementary school, I have always loved reading: books, stories, poems.
I’m sure it’s where my love of writing began.
From my favorite children’s books (which, I obviously still own) to todays favorites, I am so comfortable around books.
As you can see in my stack there, my interests are varied. Starting with the foundation of God’s word, all the way to my own writing, and so much in between.
These books have moved with me everywhere. As a matter of fact, before my most recent move, I had to cull down my collection – and it hurt my heart.
You see, in those stacks of paper, bound and printed, I find many homes. They are some of my most favorite places to be captured & embraced.
I simply cannot open one up without being drawn in, and I enjoy my stay almost every time.
Wonderland, Neverland, Pemberley, Narnia, District 12, Secret Gardens, Whoville, Sleepy Hollow…
These are just a few of the places, the list goes on, including fictional accounts of modern places.
And, the non-fiction, religious works? It’s like sitting down to coffee with a new (or old) friend.
So, with a cup of something wonderful, a pair of comfy pants, and a place to be caught up for hours
Home is where the books are.
