I am usually late doing the whole 5 Minute Friday thing, but I don’t think it’s ever been so long that I’ve written on a Tuesday, but, such is life. I had the idea for it on Friday, but, haven’t really had a minute to write it until now.
Here we go anyway. Five minutes, no over-thinking, no extensive editing. Just writing on the topic of NOTHING.
Ready? GO:
Recently, I have picked up the pace on my goal to read the entire Bible this year. Earlier this year, I had begun Exodus, and by begun, I mean I read the first chapter & then decided to return to the New Testament instead.
Now, I’m back to Exodus, and as I read the other night, a verse that I have probably read several times before jumped out at me:
“Moses spoke thus to the people of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses, because of their broken spirit and harsh slavery.” – Exodus 6:9 (ESV)
God was swooping in to rescue the Israelites, He was laying out His plan, and nothing got through to their hearts. Nothing.
They were grumbling, living in harsh conditions and crying out, and nothing escaped God’s ears. Nothing.
Pharaoh heard great things and witnessed signs and wonders and nothing moved his heart. Nothing.
Through it all, God had a plan, a big extravagant plan, and nothing could stop it. Nothing.
Moses was promised to worship on a mountain and nothing was going to keep him from it. Nothing.
So, I was left to wonder: on what mountain will I worship? What will finally penetrate my heart?
And, most of all, what is going to keep me from the love of my God? Nothing…
“For I am sure that {Nothing} will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39 (paraphrased…)
STOP
Friday, Tuesday, whenever. It’s responding to that deep call to put pen to paper that matters. And I, for one, am glad you did, Candice …
