That Song…

You know that song.

The one you want to hear, or need to hear, but you don’t have it. The one that you forgot about that tucked its way into your subconscious. The one God knows will speak to your heart better than anything else.

That Moment…
You know that moment.

You turn on the radio, or flip the station, and there the song is.

As if God is saying, “See, I hear you. I know your heart. I know what you need at every moment.”

And, for that time that it’s on the radio, you know He is still caring for you. He is telling you just what you need to hear. When it’s over, you wish they’d play it again.

That happened to me last week.

Distance…
My own stubbornness and laziness and worry have been causing a rift between me and God.

In the midst of immense worry that I didn’t recognize masked as boredom and laziness, my radio picked up Air1 which is a rarity. Even more rare, I wanted to listen to the song they were playing. A song I so desperately needed to hear that I have listened to countless times on youtube since last Wednesday.

“I promised not to quit and I remembered the words…
Every time you run, Every time you hide
Every time it hurts, Every time you cry
Every time you run away, Every time you hide your face
When it feels so far away, I’m right here with you…”
Manafest “Every Time You Run”

These words are what God wanted me to know. Whether I run, hide, hurt or cry. When He seems so far away, He’s really right there.

He is caring for me. I don’t know right now how it will all turn out, but it will turn out for my good, because, “in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

Last night I read a book of the Bible I hadn’t read in a while, and I was reminded that nothing happens by my power, only by His might and Spirit (Zechariah 4:6).

Now, my prayer for you is that if you need God to speak directly into your heart in a special way that He would.
