A Re-Introduction: prepping to relaunch

Hey, hi, how are you friends.

This journey has been so wonderful and frustrating and crazy. God has been opening up and closing doors all along the way. And, I’m so excited to see the next period of growth for the Soul Cadence Village. In honor of our relaunch, I wanted to do a re-introduction to coincide with doing the authortube chronic illness and disability tag over on YouTube (find it here).

So, a little about me: I’m a mom, author, retired LMFT, life strategies coach, and a chronic illness warrior.

Since childhood, I’ve had chronic migraines, anxiety, complex PTSD, and depression. In my early 20s, I began experiencing some GI issues and was originally diagnosed with IBS, and only a few months ago discovered I’ve actually got Crohn’s. After two back to back pregnancies, I also developed (or finally had to face) fibromyalgia. And, while I do plan to share some of my diagnosis journey in the coming weeks, for now, it’s nice to just let people know: I do understand the chronic illness life. I live it daily.

Honestly, I believe that we are still able to live fulfilled lives even with chronic illness. I believe it looks different sometimes, and may take creativity and a huge dash of grace for ourselves. But, it’s absolutely possible.

Around here on the blog (and over on YouTube and Instagram), we talk about creativity, motherhood/family, fulfillment, and chronic illness. I think it’s important to build community with other spoonie mommas, so we know we aren’t alone and we can have somewhere understanding to turn when things just aren’t going as planned and we feel ready to give up.

Also, I wanted to make a book recommendation. Recently, I read Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I’ve never felt so seen in a book as I did with that one. Honestly, it’s not even what I was going for when reading it. I was reading it for a better insight on what my students enjoy about it and how the author combines the best of fantasy and sci-fi. So, I highly recommend.

If you are a creative mom dealing with chronic illness, or a chronic illness mom wanting more ways to be creative or live a fulfilled life, then this is the place for you. And, consider joining the village. The village is the place for us, because it doesn’t just take a village to raise a child, it takes a village to support a spoonie mom trying to live a creatively fulfilled life.

So, if this is your first time here, welcome. Overtime, this blog has grown, it has adapted and evolved, and it’s always been a safe place for hurting, for broken, for physical and mental health struggles. I want to be a hopeful voice in all the negative, downplaying, and gaslighting. YOU ARE SEEN. YOU ARE HEARD. YOU ARE ENOUGH. YOUR VALUE ISN’T DETERMINED BY YOUR HEALTH (OR LACKTHEREOF).

Thanks for being here, and I’ll see you again soon. Bye for now, friends.
