Right after my move, my mom and I went to see the movie “War Room”.
Talk about a powerful movie. That one got me. I do not spend enough time in authentic prayer.
The way I used to. Late at night, after everyone has gone to bed. With one lone light on & silence all around. I find my place at the foot of my Abba. It’s a time I treasure and a practice I am trying to get back to once again.
And, that’s the beauty of home, right? In the silence at the start and end of the day, we can make a place to call our own War Room, meeting our God and enacting change in this great big world.
For Miss Clara (and then Elizabeth), it was a closet.
For you, maybe it’s your kitchen or your garden?
For me, it’s pretty much always been my bedroom. In most of the places I’ve lived, that’s all I’ve had. And, never has a closet been big enough for such a set up, so my room has been the area where I connect with my Abba.
But, in the past couple of years, that time has been severely lacking.
Over the past several months, I have been attempting to do better, get back before His throne, diving into His Word, coming before Him with everything.
In the movie, Miss Clara posts everything on her walls.
For me, it’s about a journal – or sometimes, journals. It’s about warn out & marked up Scripture. It’s about Worship songs in my headphones and silence all around.
Because in the Silence of the early morning or (more likely for me) the Silence of the dark of night, that’s when I am able to come before my Abba, quiet my heart, and recenter my life around Him each day.
It’s in the lovely silence, I learn to hear the voice that should always be heard above the fray – the voice that calms the storm and lights my heart. In the silence, that’s where His voice is loudest.
(At least, that’s how it is for me…)
Another lovely post! I would love for you to connect with a dear friend of mine. You two are about the only two women I know who so affectionately refer to our Lord as Abba!
She is an amazing woman with a ministry for women. The Lord has been gracious in her life. She has brushed up against about every evil thing satan can throw at her. She journals DAILY!
