It’s November 1…Bring on Christmas!
As is one of my traditions, I tuned in to the Hallmark Countdown to Christmas & their first premier movie of the season.
It seemed to have taken a look into my life – minus the romance.
At it’s essence, it was about a woman returning home to find home. And, she had this conversation with her mom:
“But that’s the thing. I don’t know. I don’t know where home is. How do you know?
“You know because your heart tells you.”
Maybe that’s what everyone means when they say, “Home is where your heart is.” They mean that when you find home, your heart will tell you. Your heart will react.
And, that’s what was missing today at church. I felt decidedly out of place. And, I felt out of place again when my sister told me she thought it would be good for me to make friends…
Now, I have friends, but all of them – most of them – are married. And, most of those with children.
So, our lives are very different. I still love them. I am still grateful for the friendships & enjoy spending time with them. But, I don’t get to be a part of that world yet.
So, I get it. After a month of exploring home, and realizing that I am almost there, my own heart echoes her words: how do you know?
I’m working on figuring it out.
And, each day, I know i get closer…
So, here’s to feeling at home for my favorite time of year.
Happy Christmas-time Everyone!
