Beauty invites Beauty

Last weekend I was able to go back to my hometown for a visit. On my last night there, I was able to capture pictures of some of the most beautiful Creations God blessed me with: The lovely women I call my mom and sisters:

Here are my mom and my two baby sisters, who are no longer babies at all. One soon to be 16 and one 11, they are such a joy (and sometimes a pain 😉

This is my best friend, who is so much more like a sister, so I call her my “sisterchick” (as in Robin Jones Gunn’s books).

Two other beautiful women in my life are my two amazing cousins, who I have looked up to my entire life, and have now become friends as well as family.

Women really are the crown of God’s creation. Those that find their beauty from a gentle spirit are even more so, and that is what these women represent. To me they embody not only the Proverbs 31 woman (or, as in the case of the youngest, a Proverbs 31 woman in training), but they also embody Peter’s words in 1 Peter 3:

“[Your Beauty] should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight…” 1 Peter 3:4

This is the beauty I found in God’s creation this week. Women who seek Him with all they are, and serve others in love and grace. I consider it a blessing to be among them.

Do you aim for an inner beauty, or are you continually striving for outward beauty and attention? Are there women in your life who emulate Proverbs 31 and 1 Peter 3?

This blog is linked to Shanda and her In Search of Beauty Blog hop. Check out the beauty others found in the world this week.
