“The grass ain’t always greener on the other side, it’s green where you water it.”
J. Bieber ‘As Long as You Love Me’
It’s been crazy around here…getting started on a new job, doing a lot of training. I missed another day, which I will have to make up at the end of the month. Sorry for that…
And, I’m sorry for quoting the Beebs, but it fit here. (I am slightly ashamed I know this song well enough to know this line is in there…) Today, I’m teaming up with the group at Heading Home for 5 Minute Friday & the theme today is Green…
Ready? GO:
“So, where do you consider home? California or Oklahoma?”
This is a question I recently got after relocating “home” from “home”…
Honestly – both are home. It’s hard to separate the two – my heart is divided.
But, when I was younger, I lived my life to get back to the shores of California. The sun, the sand, the surf. My family. Big dreams.
All centered around this place that I was certain was the end all, be all for my life.
I turned 18, and I was off. Back to the place my heart was drawn to.
You know what I discovered after moving?
Oklahoma had a lot of things about it I missed. My heart began to long, again, for a distant place.
This time, for winter snow, my closest friends. My memories.
Though, I was truly happy being there, and I still love California, my heart was pulled back to the MidWest.
And, for now, I find myself back in that place.
I don’t know where the roads will take me, but I hope that no matter where I find myself, I discover home. I discover beauty and comfort.
And, know that I will carry with me memories, because no matter where I go, it won’t diminish the beauty of where I’ve been.
Because, really, is the grass greener?
That’s the sweet thing I’ve found, after growing up in eight different states as a Navy child . . . God makes each place good. Thank you for the reminder!

I’ve moved so many times, my saying is “home is where your heart is!”
But i did like the quote!
